Primary Sources in Print & Media

WCSU Libraries subscribe to over 65 nursing print journals, not counting medical and allied health journals.  Print and multimedia sources offer advantages over online sources in certain cases. Browsing nursing journals is easier done with "print on paper" than online. Seminal writings by nursing theorists and pioneers, also regarded as primary sources, are best accessed in book format.

Accessing Nursing Print Journals

BROWSING the shelves
SEARCHING online for print titles

Current issues of nursing journals are on the 3rd floor of Haas Library. Titles are on display in alphabetical order; browsing efficiently is easiest when you have titles in mind. Print journals can be photocopied but cannot be checked out. Back issues of print journals are often bound like books and are shelved in alphabetical order on the 3rd floor of Haas. In some cases back issues are in microform format and are also housed on the 3rd floor.

The WCSU Libraries A-Z Journal Title Locator contains the most up-to-date display of print journals. Note that results include both print and full text available electronically. Look for a "CONSULS" listing in your results to learn about print access. CONSULS lists our print journals under the "Journal Title" search option. CONSULS will only provide detailed information on our print and microform journal collections; no full text is available here.
