Information Literacy for Evidence-Based Nursing Practice:
An Introduction

Using the library and library resources effectively during your academic coursework in nursing will ensure that you have information literacy skills to equip you for evidence-based practice and continued success in your nursing career.

This tutorial consists of multiple modules that will serve as a guide to information literacy for evidence-based practice. You may access them in any order based on your information needs and assignment requirements, or move through them sequentially using the NEXT, BACK, or JUMP TO menu and the bottom of each page.

This case study seeks to illustrate how a carefully formulated clinical research question can be answered using the evidence-based practice research framework. It shows you how to formulate your own question, how to translate into an effective search strategy, and how to use research tools effectively to obtain to evidence you need. It illustrates how information literacy concepts, techniques and tools function in support of real world evidence-based practice! Follow this icon to a list of related resources which will enable you to learn more about the content of each module. Resources can include articles, books and websites; exploring them is an excellent way to deepen your knowledge and reinforce your learning. "See it in CINAHL" indicates that you can see a demonstration of a concept or technique in the most important nursing & allied health database. You will see screen shots and applied examples of information presented.
