Historical/Biographical Note

Caroline Randolph was born in Sharon, Connecticut on June 20, 1798. Her father, Joseph Riley, died when she was two years old thus her formative years were spent with relatives in Connecticut, Vermont, and Massachusetts. She married and lived in Sharon for some time before moving to Ohio in April 1834.

Scope and Content Note

Her diary consists in large part of her religious views and search to live a "good life." A number of ministers are mentioned by name. She describes her health, the birth of her children, church attendance and everyday life in early to mid-19th century New England. 188 p. Diary contents are available only in photocopy.
