This site is maintained by members of the Connecticut State University System (CSUS) to establish an ongoing copyright educational program for our faculty, students and staff and to ensure compliance with provisions of the TEACH Act.
The WCSU Libraries provide photocopiers for student use. Compliance with the federal Copyright Act is each student's responsibility. The following message is posted at each of the library photocopiers:
NOTICE: The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17 U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. The person using this equipment is liable for any infringement.
The WCSU Libraries follow the copyright guidelines expressed in the WCSU Faculty Handbook.
The Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin maintains the WATCH File, a database containing primarily, but not exclusively, the names and addresses of copyright holders or contact persons for English-language authors whose papers are housed, in whole or in part, in libraries and archives in North America and the United Kingdom. The purpose of this database is to provide information to scholars on whom to contact for permission to quote from or publish previously unpublished manuscripts.
