- library materials (archives?)
- faculty publications
- student work (theses/dissertations)
- aggregated resources (i.e. EBSCO)?
- datasets
- harvested materials (open access materials)
- audio (recorded performances, lectures, etc.)
- video (recorded speeches, lectures, performances, etc.)
- blogs/wikis/journals?
- course materials (syllabi, learning objects, etc.)
- administrative material (committee output, president's office, provost's office, etc)
- reserve materials??

It's not always clear but some times we will have a "digital object(s)" AND the metadata that describes that object. Other times we only have the metadata. Can we only handle metadata and then point back to the digital object? What do we need to do about "preservation" of those digital assets?

This might be stretching it a bit but each one of these needs to be an application profile. They all will have different ingest and different metadata. Of course then, if this is true then we better get busy.

When you say blogs/wikis/journals... are we talking maintaining links, or "archiving" blogs etc. I think we should punt if the latter. Archives should be left off the list. What the archives needs for maintaining digital objects is a bit different from all this and muddies the water a bit.
