Visits from Vendors --Jenny, Mon, 03 Dec 2007 15:20:49 -0500 reply
I think it would be extremely helpful to invite vendors to come in and show us their acquisitions systems. Then we will know what the systems can offer us and at what cost!

We're going to order award-winning titles for the Curriculum Collection (about $5,000 worth) through this system http://www.titlewave.com/intro/titleservices.html. The system provides support for all aspects of collection development and management. They even include binding services. We're still in the process of deciding which services we'll get. You're welcome to check out this page to see what kinds of services are out there. The system has an excellent rep with school librarians, we'll see how we do in our "beta" year.

other vendors in mil --jennifer, Fri, 07 Dec 2007 10:55:16 -0500 reply
We currently (or in the recent past) use the following "big" vendors to purchase print material: B+T Blackwell Midwest Library Service Yankee Book Peddler

We have used smaller book vendors/publishing houses in the past. Some names are Ambassador Book Service, Academic Book Center, Book House, Eastern Book Co., MacMillan?, Reed, Sharron... I don't believe it's worth our time to examine all of these vendors, as many of them will not be offering processing/MARC, and/or EDI invoicing.

We should have someone contact AV vendors for Joan, etc. Currently, we use Facets Multimedia (as a standalone AV vendor - we do have orders for AV from our larger vendors). I have no idea about their processing, etc., so someone should speak with them. I think it would be worth our time to have someone contact Midwest Tape, as well. They do offer selection lists, processing, and EDI invoicing (I've worked with them in the past).
