In the wake of the Convey On-Demand experiment, we are now looking at three other chat/remote reference services:
- QuestionPoint from OCLC
- demo in May
- too expensive for too little return?
- includes chat service only, and access to a small but growing knowledge base for an additional fee
- LivePerson
- currently on trial
- $99/month per seat
- Docutek's VRL
- currently on trial
- a quick look at the software shows that it includes chat, co-browse and URL-push technology, in addition to surveys and other neat things
- Here is a PowerPoint presentation on how it works from the library side
- And another on how to set up the service
- and a third file on the features and advantages of the service
