Streaming Media
Naxos uses Windows Media Services. Either port 554 (default for RTSP) or port 1755 (Microsoft Media Server (MMS) protocol) need to be open on the campus firewall and all home users firewalls.
Mac clients will need to load Flip4Mac software to this database.
WAM table needs the following entry:
*.naxosmusiclibrary.com.
Note
The above is part right. It does use Windows Media but they stream on port 80. The proxy should be set to only proxy wcsu.naxosmusiclibrary.com

Problems October 2007
At home/off-campus 10/3/07:
Macintosh - will not play; error messages include URL not valid and playlist format not recognized (or something to that effect); installed Windows Media 9.0, Flip4Mac 2 (attempts to play through Quicktime player)
PC - works fine! including playlists.
At the library/on campus 10/4/07:
Veronica's Mac (OS X 10.4.6, Firefox 2.0, Windows Media Player 9.0) - on wired network, both with and without the proxy, seems to work fine. Wireless network, no proxy = works fine both browse and playlists; wireless network, through proxy = "playlist format is not recognized".
Astrup's Mac -

Authentication issue? --Veronica, Thu, 18 Oct 2007 14:33:31 -0400 reply
Both Ruben (student) and Ingrid Pruss (faculty) have reported that they can access the site initially and then are presented with the "log in to Naxos" prompt when they actually choose an album.

Updating Your Proxy File
Before the start of the Fall semester, we ask that you take a moment to check and update your proxy configuration files. We often troubleshoot issues with off-site NML access, and the majority of these problems stem from an outdated proxy entry. This will save you tons of headache and many phone calls from panicked students who cannot listen to their assignments.
Many of our subscribers utilize proxy servers for off-site access and we are more than willing to work with your proxy server administrator with the setup and maintenance of these configuration files. Please forward this information to the appropriate technical colleague.
I am including up-to-date information for EZ Proxy and Innovative Interface's WAM proxy. If your institution uses a different service, please do let us know, and we will be happy to look into the latest update.
EZ Proxy:
Please check if the Naxos content in your proxy.cfg file matches the updated entry from Useful Utilities. (See link below) If not, please delete the old entry and add the exact content from this link to your config file: http://www.usefulutilities.com/support/db/naxos.html <http://www.usefulutilities.com/support/db/naxos.html>
**Please note that entering this exact content in this exact order is essential for your proxy server to work with Naxos. You will need to reset the server.
WAM Proxy:
Please add the following entries to your forward table:
*.naxosmusiclibrary.com
google2.naxosmusiclibrary.com
google1.naxosmusiclibrary.com (If you have the Jazz Music Library)
***The Keyword Search is powered by Google and uses a different sub domain from the rest of NML. Keyword Search results use google2.naxosmusiclibrary.com <http://google2.naxosmusiclibrary.com/> while the rest of NML uses yourschool.naxosmusiclibrary.com, for example. It is necessary to add the Google URL to your forward table so that the user may properly open and stream those CDs? found in search results.
If you have any questions or comments regarding proxy setup, please contact Angela Hudson at (615) 465-3818 or ahud...@naxosusa.com.

This thing is driving me crazy!.
Browsing and playlist work on the PC but no love on the Mac (playlist not recognized).
Search doesn't work on either platform.
