Subject: Re: Overhead scanners
I know of four. I have to emphasize that I have no direct experience with any of them. We have a Minolta PS3000, which I think is a discontinued model. All prices mentioned below are around 6 months old, and represent only "ballpark" figures.
1) Minolta PS7000 (~$15K) Greyscale only
2) Minolta PS5000C (~$10K) Does color
3) Indus book scanner (two models, the 5001 & the 5002)
- 5001 grayscale: $18,900
- 5002 color: $26,515 Also need Ariel & !Illiad interface modules ($290)
- Maintenance: $2995 per yar
The computer to be used with these systems needs a 1.5Ghz/Pentium IV-class processor
- Training is $1500
- $300 delivery
Bottom line: $28305 for color, $20690 for grayscale, plus $3000 for maintenance
4) BookEye Planetary scanner
- Greyscale version: $16,498 ($1500 per year maintenance)
- Color version: $20,898 ($1900 per year maintenance)
