Introductions

Death of Fred

The server called fred.ccsu.edu/mylibrary.ccsu.edu died. A replacement is being handled by IT and most functions are being migrated to the new server. The biggest impact was that the electronic journal OPAC links being redirected through fred were broken. Debbie worked with Yelena to remove them from the catalog. The thesis repository is being rebuilt also. Licenses

Innovative

Licenses

Edward asked all the campuses if we thought we had enough III licenses; CCSU people are often getting "all ports in use" messages. All the other campuses seem to have enough licenses. Edward pointed out that we each have a set of licenses called c_www, or e_www, etc. that are not being used. All agreed that he could try to move some of those licenses into staff licenses and see if that alleviates the problem.

Upgrade

Innovative Server

The system office is moving the software to a new Linux box and they would also like to move us up to the most recent version of III; we discussed when would be a good time to also upgrade to Release 2005. A couple of problems were brought up:

It was decided that we would take the next two weeks to alert all our affected people and get them to try the Millennium environment and prepare a list of all the functions that do not work or do not work well. We will make a decision on upgrading after we have that information.

Future Plans

We discussed how to work together and move forward with collaborative projects. We agreed that this is a CONSULS group, and not solely a III group. Several possible common projects were discussed, and we decided to focus on data structures to begin. We hope to learn from each other and share expertise without placing undue burden on any one member or campus.

Duties & responsibilities

Norm asked if all the patron loads and updates were working for everyone; everything is working well we thank Norm for his great work while the CCSU systems position was open. Meetings

We decided that meeting approximately twice a semester face-to-face would be sufficient, with plenty of virtual meeting in between. Brian offered to set up a wiki and a weblog so everyone could contribute. Projects

Some possible future consortial projects/needs include:

EDIFACT (III)

OpenURL

Training issues

Scopes, SIP2 quotes (III)
